Introduction to AFP Weapons:
Much of the Philippine military’s heraldry dates back to 1892, when Bonifacio founded the Katipunan, which was the catalyst for the Revolutionary Philippine Army that would fight Spanish rule.
Later on, the Philippine Army was established by General MacArthur in 1935 and were absorbed into the US Army Forces in the Far East in 1941 during the early stages of WWII until 1946, thus granting the Philippines independence. Along with the Philippine Navy and Army, the Air Force was established in 1947 and later the Marine Corps under the Navy in 1950.
Philippine equipment is mostly western of origin, thus M16s, M4s and other domestic and foreign made AR pattern rifles are the standard for all branches of the AFP.
