Introduction to ROC Infantry Weapons:

The weaponry of the Republic of China’s infantry has developed from relying completely on assistance on foreign countries, to producing their own unique design that is iconic. Taking inspiration from countries such as the United States, their weapons today has taken a “western” approach in terms of style and look.

For Airsoft MilSim, it is very easy to procure a gun to do a ROC impression. Airsoft companies such as G&G and SRC have created their own version of the standard ROC assault rifle that they use today. It is even possible to use a M4 assault rifle as a stand in, as some units do use those.

The following list showcases guns that can be used in a ROC kit. Some of the following may have an airsoft gun that has in place a different design, for there is not a complete counterpart to them sadly.

ROC Assault Rifles:

T91 Assault Rifle

Standard issued firearm that was developed to replace the aging T65 assault rifle series. It incorporates features that is fundamentally similar to the AR15 platform. It has a 4 position selector switch- Safe, Semi Automatic, Three Round Burst, and Full Automatic. It utilizes a detachable handle sight, with 20mm rails for adding optics.

M4A1

Imported from the United States, this rifle is utilized in conjunction with the T91 Assault Rifle. It is issued to multiple units for training purposes.

T65 Assault Rifle (Limited Usage)

Being unveiled in 1975, This was the standard issue weapon for the army and the marine corps, until replaced by the T91 Assault Rifle. These rifles are still currently used by Reserve Forces, Basic Training, and the Air Force.

M16 (Limited Usage)

The M16 has been a big part of the Taiwanese Army, being imported from the United States for arms assistance. Being well liked by veterans, it’s designs greatly influenced the T91 Assault Rifle they use. It is still found in the hands of Reserve Forces today.

ROC Sidearms

T75K1/T75K3 Handgun

Standard issued handgun that is based off of the Italian produced Beretta M92 Handgun. This was designed to replace the aging M1911 that is still in service.

M1911A1

In the 1950s, the Taiwanese Army used original M1911A1s. Batches are still used by some forces to this day, although soon to be replaced by the T75K1/T75K3 Handgun.

Glock 17 (Limited Usage)

Certain special forces in Taiwan are seen with Glock handguns, although they are more common with Law Enforcement.

This handgun is strictly issued to Special Forces units and Law Enforcement.

ROC Light Machine Guns

T75 Light Machine Gun

The T75 Light Machine Gun is based on the Belgian produced FN Minimi. It is known to be heavier, but more compact than its counterpart. The Navy and the Coast Guard are seen utilizing these.

T74 General Purpose Machine Gun

The T74 General Purpose Machine Gun is a licensed FN MAG that is produced in Taiwan. It is usually found on either Amphibious Vehicles or APCs.

ROC Submachine Guns

Type 77 SMG

The Type 77 is a submachine gun that is produced in Taiwan. It features similar interals to the Uzi, firing from an open bolt. It was developed in 1985 to replace the MAC 10 Submachine gun. Military Police units are seen with these firearms.

MP5A5 (Limited Usage)

MP5A5s are seen in the hands of either special operations units in Taiwan, or with SWAT Teams.

ROC Marksman Weapons

T57 Battle Rifle (Limited Usage)

Fundamentally similar to the United States’ M14 rifle, the Type 57 Battle Rifle began production in 1967, with over one million of those rifles produced today. It is used by Reserve Forces and airport guards today, either for training or for a backup defense weapon.

T93 Sniper Rifle

Chambered in 7.62x51mm, this is Taiwan’s precision bolt action rifle. By its appearance, it is closely patterned after the M24 Sniper Rifle. According to news releases, the T93 has scored a .3 MOA grouping at 800 meters during trials, with a 3 round group size.

M1 Garand (Limited Usage)

This rifle was supplied by the United States through arms relief during World War 2 and later. Currently, only the ROC Honor Guard uses special Garands with a unique chrome cast.
