Aftermarket Gear in Turkey: Boran Taktik

Much like gear made in the Philippines or China, the majority of 2nd line equipment in Turkey already comes with a host of pouches including magazine pouches, general purpose pouches, administrative pouches, and the like. This would mean that 3rd party aftermarket suppliers are more scare than that of the US gear market. However, there are some exceptions. Anafarta Taktik for example offers blank, pouchless vests and plate carriers for the end user to customize with either Anafarta’s or their own pouches of choice depending on their needs.

Boran Taktik is a small Turkish business based in the northwestern city of Tekirdağ. It was founded in 2016 and produces custom IR and non IR patches, battle belts, slings, a pack that appears to be a hybrid between a mini MAP Pack and an HSP Flatpack, and most prominently, pouches. Many clients in Turkey go to Boran Taktik for custom gear not satisfied by the current commercial offerings in the Turkish market.

Some of their clientele have included Police Special Forces Member, army SF and recreational airsofters looking to supplement their 1st or 2nd line kit options.

My first experience of Boran Taktik was when I purchased an entire Turkish Nano set from a French-Turkish seller. The package deal included a plate carrier made by Vogel Tactical with Boran made magazine pouches and a battle belt with a rifle and pistol magazine pouch and finally a GP pouch in the rear. I had no prior knowledge of the company, its name or that the pouches and belt were of a separate brand until closer inspection of the pouches the vest and belt came with. A blue tag with a silhouette of an old Turco-Mongol helmet and the word “HUN” both printed in black on the light blue background. This led me to their Instagram page which showcased their wares.

This company went through three name changes, Attila Taktik, Hun Taktik, and finally Boran Taktik, which may make finding their Facebook or Instagram pages difficult depending on when your Boran products were produced. In any case, their products are very sturdy and reliable, and the purchaser will have no qualms with their products.

In order to suit the needs of different customers, Boran Taktik makes their products in standard Turkish Army Nano, 2018 Jandarma pattern, and even Police Special Operations PÖH  pattern. For Turkish impressionists, that means any contemporary Turkish kit can be supplemented without any issue. In addition to the various camouflage and color offerings, the Cordura used in the construction of these patches, packs, belts and magazine pouches are IR treated and will not glow when viewed under night vision.

Speaking from experience, their 5.56 pouches do a great job at retaining magazines. They’re stiff and the bungee retention strap has an easy to access toggle to get to the magazine. Their pistol pouches are an equally durable, velcro flapped pouch. While nothing notable, it gets the job done. Battle belts are not my personal style, though the belt stays nice and secure with the velcro attached inner belt, a design feature seen on many modern fighting belts seen on the market.

Additionally, Boran Taktik has opened up their business to international customers. They have provided products to German and French customers, and will ship to the US and anywhere else around the world. this is again especially important for Turkish impressionists and gear enthusiasts wanting to enhance their current kit.

Boran Taktik is a great place to outfit your Turkish kit needs without having to go through the hassle of needing a source in-country, as they ship abroad and accept paypal purchases, and for the price of their products and the quality put into them, they’re absolutely worth looking at.
